How to
Sign up for Mifumo
- Open the sign-up page on mifumo.co.tz.
- Create your account: enter your Work email and Full name, then click Next.
- Your business: enter the Business name and Choose a plan. Not sure? Choose Not sure? Pick modules instead and tick only the modules you want. The Monthly total updates as you pick. Click Next.
- Secure your account: enter your Phone number after +255, for example 712 345 678, and a Password. Or tick Email me a magic link instead.
- Click Create free account.
Mifumo picks your web address from your business name and emails you a sign-in link. The link works for 7 days. Your new address can take a couple of minutes to go live, so if the link does not load straight away, wait a moment and try again.
Use the free period
New accounts are free for 6 months, with no credit card required. Everything you choose at sign-up works from day one.
To see where you stand, the account owner opens Settings, then Billing. It shows your subscription, your plan, when your trial ends and your invoices. When the time comes, you pay from the same page. Mifumo reminds the owner by email 7 days and 1 day before a payment is due, and on the day.
Set up your company details
- Open Settings.
- Expand Company Settings.
- Fill in Company name and Registered name.
- Enter your TIN. It is 9 digits, like 123-456-789. You can type it with or without the dashes.
- If you are VAT registered, enter your VRN. It is 8 or 9 digits and a letter, like 40-012345-A.
- Fill in the Address (printed on invoices), Phone, Email and Website.
- Choose the month your Financial year starts.
- Add your bank details and payment terms in Invoice footer: bank details and terms.
- Click Save details.
The TIN is required. Leave the VRN empty if you are not VAT registered. You will not file VAT returns then.
Add your logo and brand colour
- In Company Settings, choose a file under Logo (printed on invoices, statements, payslips and sheets).
- Leave Match my logo ticked to take the Brand colour from your logo, or untick it and pick your own.
- If your logo is hard to see on dark backgrounds, add a Logo for dark backgrounds (optional).
- Choose a Sign-in page look for the page your team signs in on.
- Click Save details.
Choose your modules
- As the account owner, open Settings, then Modules.
- Each module shows its price per month, per company.
- Click the + button (Add module) on the one you want and follow the steps to pay.
- To stop a module, click Remove. It keeps working until the end of the period you paid for and is not charged again. Change your mind with Keep this module.
Only the account owner can add or remove modules. Once you are paying, a new module is prorated to your next invoice date.
Invite your team
- Open Settings, then Users.
- Click Add a user.
- Enter their Name and Email and choose their Role.
- Click the + button (Add user).
They get an email with a link to choose their own password. The link works once and expires after 7 days. If the email does not arrive, click Resend invite. Roles and permissions are explained in /help/team.
Add another company
- Open Companies in the menu on the left.
- Click the + button (Add a company).
- Fill in Company name, Registered name, TIN, VRN and Financial year starts.
- Click Create company.
Each company has its own books, plan and users, with a standard Tanzanian chart of accounts ready. You become its admin.
Switch between companies
- Click your name in the top right corner.
- Under Switch company, click the company you want.
You can also open Companies in the menu on the left and click Open next to a company. Your role can be different in each company.

Questions
How long is the free trial?
6 months from the day you sign up. No credit card is needed to start.
My sign-in link has expired. What do I do?
Sign-in links last 7 days. Contact Mifumo and we will send a new one. For a colleague, an Admin can click Resend invite on the Users page.
Why does Mifumo reject my TIN?
A TIN must be exactly 9 digits. Check you did not type your VRN or an email address in the TIN box.
Can I change my base currency later?
No. The currency is fixed when the company is created. You can still invoice, pay and keep bank accounts in other currencies.
Why is there no Overview page in my menu?
It is off by default. An Admin can tick Show the Overview page in Company Settings.
What is the Today page?
It is where you land when you sign in. It lists only what needs you now, from the parts of Mifumo your role can open: approvals waiting for you, unread mentions, overdue invoices, bills due this week, products running low and bank lines not matched. Click a line to open it. When nothing needs you, it says so.
